Thornhill Gala Launch

In Summer 2017 we publicly launched our cause to buy and redevelop our ‘OId School’ at the Thornhill Gala. The event was well attended by over 500 local residents, visiting families and tourists travelling to our town.

We devised a simple speech bubble design that would be used as a visual mechanism for people to engage in our project - asking for a written or visual response to the following text:

The Old School, Thornhill

We have an amazing village; a great community with a top-notch school.

We know lots of people who have an idea for a project or a business but have no place to start. And we have these empty buildings.

A group of us who live locally have been asking the question: what if we had studios and desk spaces for freelancers and artists? Meeting and conference facilities for established businesses? Recording facilities for local musicians? A studio for health and wellbeing?

What if in the evening we could convert this place into somewhere to host exhibitions, show films, put on gigs and performances?

We think The Old School would be a great place to do all of these - a place to work, share and enjoy what Thornhill has to offer.

What do you think?
