THORNHILL PLACE PLAN
We are in the process of developing a Local Place Plan for Thornhill and would love to hear from people of all ages living in and around the village. What changes would like to see in Thornhill? What do you want to keep the same? Please tell us!
Why is a Place Plan needed?
A strong Place Plan will influence D&G Council planning, grant funding, Development Trust priorities for action and Community Council resource allocation. Whether you are interested in health facilities, housing, things for young people to do, making the school run safer, or any other issues, this is an opportunity for you to have your say.
How do I get involved?
There are lots of ways to have your say in the Thornhill Place Plan.
Our community survey can be filled out here
Pen and paper versions will be distributed very soon to households.
Separate surveys for business and landowners and also community groups will be launched shortly. We are running engagement sessions in Wallace Hall with children and young people.
Through this phase of community engagement, we will be asking general questions about Thornhill, local land use and facilities. We will develop more concrete proposals based on this feedback and ask the community whether or not they support these in April 2025.
We are running events where you can answer the same questions but in-person instead of by survey.
Place Planning drop-in at Friendship Club, Monday 17th February, 10am – 1pm
Place Planning drop-in at Community Centre, Wednesday 19th February, 3pm – 6pM
Place Planning drop-in, Saturday 22nd February, Old School Thornhill, 2.30pm to 5pm
We also are running a Discovery Walk around Thornhill to discuss its infrastructure.
Discovery Walk, Saturday 22nd February, starting at main crossroads and ending at OST, 1pm till 2.30
The walk is followed by the drop-in mentioned above at Old School Thornhill – please note it is fine to attend only one of these events or come along to both.
Who is running this?
Thornhill Place Plan is being undertaken by local consultant Sleeping Giants and managed by Old School Thornhill (OST) Development Trust.
It has been funded by Thornhill Community Council.
If I’m just going to do just one thing for the Thornhill Place Plan, what should it be?
We’re encouraging everyone possible who lives in Thornhill or nearby to fill out the community survey.
Please fill in the community survey in online or look out for a paper copy which should be distributed to your house in February.
